GETTING to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) can be a stressful experience for some people and a new four-star airport hotel in Sepang hopes to change that with its resort concept.
Ibis Styles Sepang KLIA opened its doors on Feb 1, and is located just 1.2km from the airport.
The hotel offers a unique blend of comfort and convenience, especially for transit guests.
The developer of Ibis Styles Sepang KLIA is Ikhasas Sdn Bhd.
Its group chief executive officer Tan Chee Kian said the collaboration involved ISY Holdings Sdn Bhd, a listed investment company with prominent businessman Tan Sri Syed Yusof Syed Nasir as its chairman.
Tan said this was a good opportunity for Ikhasas to work with ISY and to collaborate with Accor, an international brand in hotel management.
“This is the nearest international brand hotel to the airport. Guests can relax and not worry about traffic as it takes only six minutes to reach KLIA with our free shuttle,” he said at the launch of the hotel.
Invited guests and media members had a chance to ride on the air-conditioned shuttle bus, which is free for hotel guests travelling to and from KLIA.
Tan said two features of note at the hotel are the 10 specially designed biker rooms, catering to motorcycle enthusiasts, and commissioned artwork in each room done by artists with autism.
This was the hotel’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, he said.
“We wanted artwork by autistic artists in each room; it is our way to render help to society.”
The paintings on the wall in each room have been reprinted with permission.
Also present was hotelier and founder of several international hotel companies, Adrian Zecha, who was also the first guest to check into the hotel.
“It has been a good experience and I will come back again,” he said.
Syed Yusof, who has brought many reputable franchises and brands into the country, said the hotel would play an important role in tourism.
“The government is working hard to bring tourists to Malaysia. Hotels are doing well and we expect 60% room occupancy soon.”
Syed Yusof cited the hotel’s location close to the airport, proximity to shopping centres, ample parking and huge swimming pool as plus points.
“This will attract staycation holidaymakers and families to come and enjoy the facilities here including transit passengers.”
As a biker himself, Syed Yusof said the designated rooms and the hotel’s proximity to the PETRONAS MotoGP venue would attract other enthusiasts.
The hotel is currently offering special introductory packages.
